Are you tired of your Wardrobe?

Are you tired of your wardrobe?  Accessorize!   It’s a sure-fire way to update that little black dress or that sweater!   Whatever the wardrobe… the accessories  give it that UPDATE!

It’s all about the shoes, the handbag and the jewelry! For REAL!    If you are wearing the same little necklace you’ve always worn… the dress looks the same.    If you accessorize with new updated pieces… it can look like an entirely different outfit!

As you go into the weekend, I will challenge you to freshen up your accessories and if you need help, Text me…. or  send me an email with a photo of  your outfit!  I’d love to help you select some pieces to update your wardrobe!

Here’s two photos I took last week…. same new jewelry…. two completely different looks…. What if I had only worn my little necklace I had always worn?   Think about it and let me help you!   So much fun to create new looks with new pieces!   I love my job!!!

Summer nights

Oh how I love Summer nights!   Grilling yummy food and enjoying the evening sunset!   My husband and I have been trying to eat healthier…. you know how that goes!  So we recently found this new favorite recipe for Cedar Plank Salmon!  It’s absolutely to die for!

We also found that the marinade works great on shrimp!  We’ll skewer the shrimp after marinating and grill those too!   So incredibly yummy!

You can find Cedar Planks in your grocery store in the fresh fish section – at least you can in ours – and I recommend stocking up.  We only use our boards once.. they are not very expensive and really make the dinner amazing!    We also keep a jar of crushed/minced Ginger on hand so we don’t have to grate it for this recipe AND finally…. If you buy scallions and chop them.. you can freeze what you don’t use and use them for the next marinade.  We’ve also substituted minced onion in a pinch and it works great!

Now enjoy your evening at home… a delightful dinner… relaxing in your own back yard! Priceless!

Going off to college!

It’s so much fun to see your kids grow up to be adults, although scary too!   You’ve raised your kids, taught them morals, ethics, manners, and the value of hard work and they are 18 and going off to college where you have absolutely NO CONTROL!   So hard for a planner like myself and I’m sure for many moms and dads!

You hope all the words you’ve said… the lessons they’ve learned so far are enough to keep them safe and successful going forward!

This moment pictured above is my son test driving “reliable” cars to take to college.  He’s looking at pre-owned (aka “used”)  cars but NEW to him…. something that has low mileage and we hope will last him 4 years of college and slightly into his first job.

It has been a fun journey to research cars that HE loves and WE love and we think we’ve settled on something!  STAY TUNED!

All in just a few weeks he’ll buy his first car, go to prom, graduate and go to Freshman Orientation and move off to college in August!  Crazy how 18 years of raising your child turns into this.   A HUGE EMOTIONAL GOODBYE!

I think I’m ready… but I do expect to miss him terribly!   Only 2 more years until my daughter moves out… Holding on to every minute!

All Decked Out!

My husband and I were getting the house ready for Spring/Summer….and were disappointed that our deck stain/waterproofer was peeling up after a long cold winter!

Reluctantly… in order to do the job right… we sanded the deck to remove the peeling stain and are planning on reapplying the stain/waterproofing again…

So if you live in the North East, and are subject to harsh winters, what deck stain/waterproofer do you use that does not peel up season after season!  We are all decked out!   #wishIhadTrex #Patio #anythingbutwood  Would love your thoughts before we stain this coming weekend!

Summer Legs!

It’s ALMOST summer… and if your legs are as white as mine… you may be a little concerned with wearing skirts and NOT looking “glow in the dark”.  I don’t have a lot of time to “sunbathe” nor do I want to ruin my skin anymore…   I will sometimes use self tanner if I think about it in time…. but most of the time, I’m in my closet deciding what to wear and I may avoid the skirt if my legs look like the one on the right! 🙂

I just found the BEST product that can instantly give color to your legs or other body parts!   My arms and chest seem to get color from walking or gardening outside but my legs are another story!  🙂

Found this product at Sephora and I will definitely buy it again!   Look what it did to my legs in just 5 minutes!   So much better!!!   I guess I better buy some before you guys sell it out! 🙂   ENJOY!

Happy Mother’s Day!

IMG_5618

So this Mother’s day is a little hard for me…. Mom passed away about a year and a half ago… kind of suddenly…   I’m not going to dwell on that though… I want  to just say how thankful I am that we got to spend time together until she was almost 81!  This photo was taken at her 80th birthday party!  So, so glad we planned this for her!    I’m so glad we traveled together… so glad we were lucky enough to have her in our lives while my children were old enough to know her….

For those of you who don’t have your moms around anymore…. I feel your loss!  It’s a club you don’t want to belong to.  I truly believe our mom’s are looking over us!

For those of you who still have your mom, even if she annoys you sometimes, tell her you love her every day.. because the next day, could be the last.

Not all moms are perfect… but they do the best they can.   I hope your mom is perfect…. but in case she isn’t…. KNOW that she loves you!    A mother’s love is unconditional… and hindsight is 20/20.   I wish I knew the things I know now.. but isn’t that always the case…

So all this to say…. I hope you have a VERY happy Mother’s day celebrating YOU, your mother, your mother in law…. and ANY woman who has been LIKE A MOM to you!

The bottom line is “it takes a village” and moms have had a great influence over who we are and who we have become.   Be thankful for what you have learned from that “mom figure” and have made you who you are today!

Happy Mother’s Day!

It’s all in the Details!

Spring Update!

Okay.. I need to start out by saying that these light fixtures are NOT in my home but I do like them!  I saw them at a bar in a hotel a month or so ago.   10 years ago, when I moved into my home, I had an eclectic style… fairly transitional!   I have a lot of family furniture pieces and I’ve updated them with some current fabrics  and to my husbands’ dismay,   I think it’s time for a redo on some.
After many years of being married, and finally getting the house “finished” so it seems, its always time for a little update.    Just like a wardrobe… it’s all in the accessories and some foundation pieces!
Foundation pieces can be your large upholstered pieces or window dressings…. accessories can be lamps and light fixtures!
We will be updating our kitchen this Spring and I’m looking for some barrel shade lamps to go over my island – KIND of like this one.  (not sure about the crystals)  but it’s a great way to update a room without a total overhaul!
What room do you want to update?

Summer Travel

Summer Travel

I love summer!  Love the thought of Summer Travel too!   Whether you are doing day trips to the beach…. drivable or flyable weekend trips….. or week long vacations!  YOU need to be ready to go at a moment’s notice!
Here are my TOP 10 Travel Tips!
1.  Keep all your cosmetics in a travel bag all the time!   Saves time when on the go!
2.  Keep a travel size shampoo, conditioner, and razor in your travel bag (not good to forget that razor and sometimes hotel shampoo is not the best)
3.  Don’t forget that sweater or wrap for chilly nights!
4.  Work around a color scheme that you can wear the same shoes with.  Summer is easier than winter…. I love neutral sandals, wedges and heels!
5.  Pack a small drawstring bag for carrying water or necessities on walks and hikes or for throwing your bathing suit in for going to the spa!
6.  Jewelry storage a MUST!    Love my organizer from Pursen!  Lots of pockets… lots of options!
6.  Always keep a protein bar or two in your handbag for traveling to stave off hunger in a pinch to keep you from eating something unhealthy!
7.  Don’t forget your exercise clothes!   You may not get to it but you want to have options! And… it’s summer…. we want to look good by the pool!
8.  Since it’s summer… don’t forget that hat and sunscreen!   There are some GREAT packable sun hats or just use a cute ball cap!
9.  Bring a small handbag!   I know you may need your large one for stuffing everything in the sun into… but I love bringing one small handbag for going to dinner and not feeling like I’m carrying a suitcase 🙂     There’s lots of cute ones.. happen to LOVE my new Tory Burch  Robinson chain Wallet I got for Christmas! It can function like a wallet, something to put your phone into, it can become a clutch and a shoulder bag.   Pieces like this are functional… they can BE your wallet and your purse.. so tuck this baby in your large handbag and GO!
10.  That’s it!   Felt like I needed to have a top 10 …. so here’s 10!  Go plan some summer trips!

I SEE You! :)

I SEE You! 🙂

Okay.. .this is not about eyes but EYEBROWS!   They are necessary!  I am kind of blonde….. so my eyebrows are pretty thin and light…. check out the photo above!   Which Eyebrow looks better and makes my eyes stand out more?
( waiting )
I’m not telling but you can guess below!    I used a product I got at Sephora that I love!  It’s like a mascara brush for your eyebrows!   Not only does it enhance the natural color but it tames them with a gel!   It’s like double duty for your eyebrows!   Have you ever tried a product like this or this one?  Tell me about it!  Let’s share the best eybrow products you’ve tried!

Which one?

So, I’m renovating my kitchen, and I’m just curious do you prefer the top or the bottom cooktop? SERIOUSLY would love your comments!  🙂
